FAQs

Questions you have surrounding your move will hopefully be covered within this page or may have already been covered elsewhere on our website. If, however, there is still something you are not sure about, please get in touch with a team member.

QUOTATIONS

We would advise being proactive and organising a quotation at least 4 weeks before you are due to move, preferably more.

We will arrange for our removal consultant to visit you at your home to discuss your requirements and carry out an assessment of your move. Following this, we will email your quotation along with supporting documents. We can also quote via a video call.

The easiest way is to complete this online form. If you would prefer to speak to someone over the phone, please call us on 0161 790 6666.

STORAGE

Anchor Removals have storage solutions and are able to support you if you require a period of time in storage between moves. Find out more here.

This varies depending on a number of different factors, such as, how much you are storing, the value of your belongings, and how long you require storage for. To understand more, please use our online budget calculator or arrange a quote.

All of our storage facilities have a Police response time and are fully alarmed, so you can be sure that your belongings are secure whilst in our possession.

PACKING MATERIALS

Yes. We can provide you with our materials order form where you can purchase a range of materials including boxes, paper, and tape, all of which can be delivered to your door.

Providing that you have purchased packing materials through Anchor Removals, we will collect them when we have a vehicle in the nearby area. Assuming that they are still in a good working condition, we will reuse them. You are of course welcome to keep them for your own future use too.

When you start to pack your belongings for your move is up to you. We can arrange to deliver your boxes as far in advance as you wish, providing that we have received payment for the materials that you’re purchasing.

REMOVAL VEHICLES

We have vehicles suitable for every type of move. Our vans vary from 18 tonne purpose built removal vehicles, to smaller transit vans.

Distance or European moves often require more than one day to complete. In this scenario, your belongings would be kept on our locked removal vehicle overnight and, where possible, the van parked behind locked gates at one of the GB Liners group locations. Our crews will sleep in the purpose built sleeper pod which is situated above the front seats of the vehicle.

We often come across moves where the access is restricted for one reason or another, and we therefore cannot get a large removal vehicle to the property. In this scenario, we would use a small vehicle to tranship your belongings onto or from a larger one.

GENERAL

The best answer we can provide is as much notice as possible. As a rule, however, if you can supply Anchor Removals with at least 3 weeks’ notice, that should be plenty to ensure availability. As we are also part of the GB Liners moving group, we have a UK-wide network of further resources to call upon in the busier times.

The summer months of July and August are known to be two of the busiest months of the year for moving. Other than this, school holidays and the weeks leading up to Christmas are also exceptionally busy.

From time to time, we will work on Saturdays, but our team will get paid overtime for working on a weekend, so there would be an additional charge. Sundays or Bank Holidays can be arranged under certain circumstances.

Anchor Removals can provide cover against loss and damage for all moves. Cover can be arranged during the move and whilst in storage, and up to an amount declared by you. If you would like to understand more, please contact us and ask for a copy of our terms and conditions.

Alcohol and non-perishable food items are typically ok for UK moving. If your move is a European or International move, it can be done, but it may be costly and will depend on the restrictions within the destination country.

OTHER

This will depend on aspects such as where you are moving to, the level of service you opt for, and how much you have to move. For UK moving, 1-3 working days should be enough. For European and International moving, the timescale can move into weeks opposed to days.

We require payment in full upon booking. If you are making a booking well in advance of your moving date, we may accept a deposit with the balance due two weeks before the start date. You can pay directly into the bank or phone us to take Debit card details over the phone. All pre-payments are protected as we are members of the British Association of Removers Advanced Payment Guarantee scheme.

Yes, we can certainly help if you are looking to move offices. Although this is not the core of what we do, we do have experience in handling office moves and can arrange for purpose built crates to be supplied prior to the move for your IT and office equipment to be safely transported in.

Postponing or cancelling a booking with more than 10 working days’ notice is not subject to cancellation or postponement charges and a full refund will be supplied. If you cancel or postpone a move with 10 or less working days’ notice, then charges may apply depending on the notice given.
